Happy Birthday William!!

William turned 4! Boy, did he have a birthday party to remember!!

It started with lunch at Chuck E. Cheeses...William's choice, not mine. We invited his dear friend Drew Schoenhofer, Drew's older brother Austin and Ben and Ryan's good friend Colton Lakey to join in the fun. The older boys had a great time playing the video games while the younger ones played in the play tubes that hung from the ceiling. They all ate a lot of pizza and had a great time.

Later that evening, after dinner, we had a small get together for cake and ice cream. Little did we know what was in store for us!

Will's friends started arriving around 6:30pm. Jesse (William's best 'girl' friend) and Cooper were the first to arrive, followed by Colton, Austin and Drew. Grandma and Grandpa came too!

I got out the cake, took my pictures, lit the candle and we all sang "Happy Birthday". William blew out the #4 candle and cake was served!! Ohhhh, but while we were singin' a storm was brewing outside!! Everyone was eating their cake, talking, having a great time when all of a sudden the wind was blowing hard, the trees were bending over! It was raining so bad I couldn't see across the street! With the wind blowing so hard the rain was horizontal! Lightening was flashing and the thunder was LOUD! Within minutes the electricity was out! To top it off the town tornado sirens went off!! OH MY! Here we are, 4- 4 year olds, 4 older kids and 5 adults all piled into our 'safe' room... which is our downstairs bathroom!!! HA! One lit candle was the only light in the room. It took about 15 minutes for the worse part of the storm to pass. We all came out of the bathroom when the wind and rain died down a little and the tornado sirens stopped wailing. Still, no power. The lightening flashes lit the house up enough for me to find candles. While it continued to storm outside we kept the party going! We opened the gifts by candle light! We had to be very careful not to get any of the tissue paper near a flame!! I can see it now on the t.v. show America's Funniest Home Videos.......

The best part was pinata by candle light!! The kids all took turns wacking the pinata in the candle lit living room.

In the end everyone had fun, despite what Mother Nature had planned for us!
